Wood-fired Teasets

Wood-fired Set

Wood-fired Teaset

Wood-fired Wabi-sabi Teacup

This was probably one of my best pieces this year and inspired by one of Siem van der Ven's pieces.

Wood-fired Teapot

Mum couldn't stop calling this a neti pot. It's suppose to be a Japanese left-handed teapot that I wood-fired. I was not capable of making a lid at the time, so it has no lid. The drop of grey glaze on the back is wood ash or cone pack, we're not really sure, everything blows around in the wood-firing.

Vase of Bone

This is not really a vase of bone even though it's a common ingredient in clay... but the celadon on the top half of the vase really looks like it.

Elliot's Fall Work

This is not my work, this is my good friend Elliot's who had a little accident when his columns of vases fell over in the kiln and stuck together. We managed to pry them out in about an hour and salvage four of the eight columns. His glazes are beautiful.

Elliot's Stacks

Beautiful top to one of the columns.

Elliot's Cap

Elliot's mess.

After some glue and making a few new pieces I'll post what Elliot makes for his final project.

Sorry friend!

Test Tiles

This is some of our glazes I have been experimenting with this semester. This is a 20 x 20 grid of every combination of the twenty studio glazes we have. Of course we can also mix our own...
